Preparing for War - Evolutions 1

    [Are you sure this is a good idea?] Kiki asked as she, Mordi and her children Renki and Easter followed Katie toward the back of Wick’s home in the heart of Keyma. Zeta acted as a translator for elvenbrone woman. The dwebble/petilil chimera was waddling ahead of the normal type Pokémon as they rounded around a corner leading into another hallway.

    “Yes it is Kiki,” her trainer replied as she stopped from walking to turn around and look at them. “Evolving is something natural for every Pokémon. Shoot, sometimes even we trainers evolve.”

    [Really? Cause I don’t see you changing shape into an even taller woman,] Mordi quipped before adding, [Also some Pokémon can’t evolve no matter how hard to try to get them to do so.]

    [Grace would be a prime example,] her son Renki pointed out as he flicked his long tail, [but then again she is able to change her form just by sniffing a certain flower.]

    [Bass would be a better example,] Easter chipped in with her two cents.

    Zeta shook his head in confusion. “When did I raise a family of kill joys?” he asked his trainer who merely laughed at the comment. The slender woman patted her friend’s shoulder before picking up the tiny chimera at her feet.

    [I wonder if Wick would show that much affection towards me?] Renki replied as he watched the three interact with each other. Despite the jealousy in his voice, the dragon/dark type eevee stared at them with no emotion being shown.

    [Of course he will sweetie,] his mother replied stroking him just behind his horn, [you just have to give him the chance to.]

    Before Easter could comment about her mother’s favoritism toward her alchemized brother, Zeta scooped her up and ruffled the fluff on her head. [Don’t worry Easter, you’ll meet your trainer soon enough,] he said when he set her back down.

    They continued onward until they found the storage room that Katie was looking for. Inside there were plenty of odds and end hanging about in crates and boxes. “Which box are we looking for?” Zeta asked his trainer as he started to slide one out.

    “It’s up higher than that one,” she replied scanning the top row. Each one had a different label. Technical manuals, escape ropes, and alchemy components were among the many assorted boxes and crates. One box finally did catch the elvenbrone’s attention and she pulled it out. It was a wooden box but on the inside there were a half of dozen stones resting in mareep wool.

    [What are these?] Easter asked as she peered over the box’s rim. Renki was about to poke one of the stone when his father lightly bopped him in the nose, making the young eevee flinch back.

    Understanding the question without the need for translation, Katie kneeled down and replied, “They’re evolution stones. We use them to evolve certain Pokémon.”

    Those words clicked in Mordi’s ears as she quickly replied, [So we’re all evolving today I guess.]

    After waiting the translation, Katie nodded, “Yes, all four of you are going to evolving here today.” Setting Kiki down from her shoulder, the trainer pulled four of the stones out and gave them to Zeta before replacing the box back.

    [I thought Kiki was the only one that was going to evolve and we were only here to support her,] Renki stated as his mother gave his father a deadly glare.

    [You lied to me,] she said in the harshest tone her children ever heard. Zeta gave a weak grin as he withered under the glare.

    “I think I’m going to watch how King is going with his training,” the chimera said as he passed the stones back to his trainer once she had the box stored away. Before she could reply he was already running out the door.

    Hot on his heels, Mordi was chasing after him, screaming at the top of her lungs, [You get back here you liar and oath breaker! You promised me that we would have a talk before we let any one of our children do something so life changing! When I get a hold of you, you’ll regret even being brought here!]

    “With our translator gone,” Katie muttered to herself as she listened to echoing cries of the enraged eevee through the halls, “we’re going to have to do this the hard way.” Pocketing the stones, she turned to the other three Pokémon. “How about we go out into the yard? That way you can spread out as much as you can.” Luckily for her, all three of them agreed.

    Moments later, the four of them were seated on and around a bench that looked down the cavern city toward the sea and Labyrinthian Isle. Pulling the four stones out and placing them on the bench next to her, Katie asked, “So who’s first?”

    The three Pokémon looked at each other for a moment before the two younger ones turned to Kiki. Once she realized that they picked her, she waddled over. Hopping onto the bench, she held her head up high, waiting for the moment of change.

    With a light tap on her head, the dwebble/petilil chimera was engulfed in a bright light strong enough for the other two Pokémon had to shield their eyes. Katie raised a hand to block the light as she watched her little Pokémon shift forms. Gaining a couple feet, Kiki’s body shifted to a standing position and pinchers formed around where her arms would be. As quickly as the light had engulfed her, it dissipated in a quick flash.

    Rubbing the blindness out of their eyes, everyone gazed at the new Kiki. From the flower on her head to the tulip shaped rock dress she had, the chimera appeared more lilligant than her crustle side. But there were still the large pincers and tiny feet poking out from the stone still kept the bug/rock Pokémon in her showing.

    [I’m taller,] she muttered, shifted her body around to adjust to the new weight she gained and controlled. [And I can grab things now.] She tested out her pincers on one of the other stones that rested next to her. Squealing in delight, she jumped off the bench and ran around to stretch her new feet. [This is so much better!]

    Unable to understand her, Katie got up and tried to corral her back toward the others. “Easy girl,” she said trying to contain her own excitement, “I know you probably want to show yourself off to others but-”

    Kiki, who had just accidentally tripped her trainer when she came to a sudden stop, took a moment to process what was just said. [I should go see Bella. I bet she’ll flip at the new me!] she said before running toward the shore.

    But thankfully for Katie, the jolly Pokémon was stopped as Renki and Easter both jumped in front of her. [Please wait for our evolutions,] Renki said standing on his hind legs while using his long tail for support. [That way we can show everyone our new forms at once.]

    That comment prompted another reaction from the crustle/lilligant. [You’re right,] she blurted out before realizing she still had one of the evolution stones in her hand. [Once everyone else evolves then we can all go together! Now hurry up and evolve!] Before Katie or the other Pokémon could react, Renki was bopped in the nose by the stone and engulfed in a similar light.

    Much like with Kiki, the alchemized eevee’s body shifted causing him to lose his balance. The others watched as he grew in size while his singular horn lengthen. When the light faded, he was laying on his side with his large tail coiled around him like a makeshift cushion. From where Katie was standing, it was clearly twice his length and the scales that had only littered his hindquarters now ran down the whole of his tail. His silvery fur had darken becoming more of a black steel color while the cobalt scales, horns and claws keep their hue. The yellow rings that usually adorn an average umbreon’s coat now bore the deep woodland green that his fluffy fur once had and glowed brightly.

    Bringing himself onto all fours, Renki inspected his new form. Even though Kiki was ecstatic about the change, the alchemized umbreon took one look at his tail and complained, [It was a pain to carry it around with people stepping on it before hand. Now this is just a nightmare.]

    [But you look so cool, Renki!] the chimera said patting him on his check. [Like some kind of black dragon-fox.]

    [But this tail…] he muttered looking back his now really long tail.

    [Okay!] Kiki shouted breaking further train of thought as she rushed back to the bench where the other stone remained. Katie, already seeing what she was planning, intercepted and picked the stones up herself.

    “Easy there, Kiki,” she said raising the stones up high. “Your actions kind of startled Renki with the last one. He could have hurt himself with that. How about I help Easter with her evolution?” The chimera was more than happy to let her trainer take over the duty.

    The quiet buneary stood ready as the stone was lowered onto her head. When the light finally faded, Easter now stood almost three times her original height. Her rather short ears had grown to a length that exceeded her father's and was covered in even more fluffy fur. The fur that wrapped around her head before now bellowed out in fluffy locks down her back.

    She stared at her new form, taking in all the new feelings amidst Kiki’s squealing in delight once more. “How do you feel?’ Katie asked kneeling now to look at her in the ears.

    Flicking her fluffy hair, she flexed her ears out. Picking up a stray noise of foot falls, she turned in the direction they were coming from and pointed. [Someone is coming,] she said before walking in its direction. Ture to her prediction, Zeta returned, carrying the sleeping Mordi in his arms.

    “Where did you two go?” His trainer asked as she took the sleeping eevee from him and gently placed her on the bench.

    “I let her chase me around town till she tried out,” he said taking a seat next to her. “She was still irate with me though when I gave up the chase. Still her narcolepsy kicked in once we slowed down and well, I can’t leave the mother of the children alone in the middle of the streets.”

    “Well how about we wait for Mordi to wake up before evolving her,” Katie suggested before gesturing toward the other Pokémon with them. “In the meantime, I think Kiki and your kids want to show you their new forms.”

    The zoroark chimera leaned around to view the others and all their newness. “Looking good you three,” he said still using chatter, “I’m digging that tail of yours Renki.”

    [It’s too long,] the umbreon replied with a glance back at his tail.

    [A long tail could be useful sometimes,] Mordi said as she woke back up. [If I had a tail that long I could hit your idiot father a lot easier.] She emphasized this by flicking her tail at the chimera.

    Smirking at the waking eevee, Katie kneeled down toward her and offered the stone. “Are you ready to evolve?” she asked.

    Looking at her children and their father, she rolled her eevee while saying, [Might as well be. It seems kind of weird being a mother and yet not fully evolved while having evolved children.] she reached out and tapped the stone with a paw, triggering her body to start glowing.

    When the light show faded from her, she was now eye level with the sitting zoroark chimera and had a strike lavender coat. Despite just evolving though, her trademark tired eyes still remained, deepening the new color of her eyes.

    She reached up to play with the tuff of fur that stuck out from under ears, muttering, “This is going to mess up every time I go to sleep.” When she looked back at the elvenbrone woman, the newly evolved espeon added, “Why are you staring at me?”

    “I can understand you now,” Katie replied standing up.

    “I wonder why?” Zeta chuckled, “She evolved into a psychic type.”

    “If you think that’s going to save you from me beating you up,” the narcoleptic Pokémon said glaring at him, “Then you must have forgotten that I know trump card!”

    Seeing the determination in her eyes, the chimera took wing and flew off toward the shore once more. This time though with glowing red cards after him.
