Late, that night the captain of the Coral Spear held a dinner in Amy and her group's honor. Everyone on broad was invited, but in was the guests of honor and officers dined with the Captain. Catey and Doug finally got some answers about their companions.
"Wow! So let me get this straight," Doug asked when they finish their meal, "You're a spell caster and a spirit merger!?"
Amy replied with a sigh, "The proper term is mage. And yes, I'm a merger and I got the mark to prove it," She revealed a tattoo on her right shoulder. It was a six point star with each line a different color.
"And you are a ninja, right Jake?" Catey asked.
"Yes madam," Jake answered with a grin, "And I'll be glad to phew…Ow!" Amy arm shot across his face.
"He thinks that he's a ladies man," she told the teenagers, "and it gets really annoying. Oh, plus the twins have superpowers."
"And we're proud of it!" Luke yelled as he slapped his lap, "There are only a handful of us but boy; we're useful in a close crowd.
"And you Catey are probably a warrior, and Doug is most likely a guardian," Amy said taking out two stones at them from her pocket.
"Huh?" Catey and Doug asked at the same time.
"Do you know what these are," She tossed the stones at the two. They stared at them as Amy, Jake, Luke and Duke pulled out wristbands and said, "They're kems!"
"What?" Catey yelled, "Kems! I thought these were all destroyed in the Wars of Land long ago? Wait," turning to Jake next to her she asked, "You know how to use them!?"
"Yes," Jake replied cleaning his ear, "And next time don't yell in my ear."
"We use wristbands to hold them so you can get them off your body when not in use," Luke said putting the kems on the wristbands.
"Tell me about it," Duke said, "It took me all my strength just to rip one off of you wrist."
"Isn't that because they dig into your skin if they remain in contact with it for too long?" Catey asked.
"Yes," Duke replied, adding as he handed the six bracelets to the two. "Just wear them and your skills will be loaded into the kems,"
"We need to put them all on?" Doug asked.
"Well we wanted your abilities." Amy replied then adding, "It's called synchronizing."
"Ooohh." Doug realized.
"Wait," Catey said before they continue, "Like I asked before back on the docks. Why should we join you guys?"
Amy got up from her chair and walked around behind Catey. "The reason why I want you to join is the Mavers are mean and they are trying to take over the know world. Several towns like yours were destroy, but none off them were lucky enough to get an early warning like your town. Probably the admiral in charge was Triss."
"She the evilest of the three Maver admirals," Jake interrupted, "Word on the dock is that she uses her prisoners as lab rats for her experiments."
"Well depending what my father says I'll go. Doug?" Catey asked her best friend. Doug nodded with grim eyes.
"So if your parents do say yes, we will begin practice tomorrow," Amy said. Then, picking up the wristbands on the table, she said, "But first, let's gets synchronized."
During the confusion, the Captain's aide came walking in. Walking up the captain, he said, "Sir, a ship been sighted, port side."
"What colors?" Alistair asked.
"BRC, Sir"
"Just a patrol ship," said the Captain as he got up, "Better check it out though. Why it's sailing this far from Bevo, I wonder? Anyway, get some rest people; we should reach Bevo with in the week."
"Goodnight everybody," Amy said heading toward the door.
"Goodnight," Jake said getting up.
"Sleep tight," Duke replied.
"Don't let the bed bugs, Yewoch!" Luke cried as his twin whacked him over the head, "Bite."

The next morning found Catey at the bow of the ship resting. She was rudely awoken when Amy gave her a slight kick in the foot. "Get up you need to see this," she said handing a mug to her.
Catey brought herself and took the mug. It was warm and had a hard taste to it. She shook her head in disgust and said, "What is this? Mud?"
"Close enough," Amy laughed. "It's coffee that we picked up at Co Co Tolay. They maybe the trade center of the world but they make bad coffee. Ah, look over there."
Catey turned and looked at the horizon. "Look at what? I see nothing but water for leagues," she said.
"Maybe if you looked down you would see something," Amy said joking.
As told, Catey lower her field of vision down to the water below. In front of the ship was a distortion under the clear glass like surface. "What is that?" Catey asked.
"That is the Ma-ten trade current," Amy said join the teenager in gazing. "It's the largest current in the world and it stretches across the world. It allows boats to swiftly travel to three of the largest cities in the world plus a smaller town; the city state of Co Co Tolay, the Ozmen Nation's capital of Ozlen, Mt. Lin of the Linain Republic, and the border city to the Maver Empire, Navi Bay."
"So this is the most important current to sail on?" Catey asked.
"Aye," Amy replied before taking another drink of the coffee. "Because this current is used by the whole world, it is deemed neutral waters. So besides pirates, no one under any flag can attack a vessel in these waters."
Before Catey could ask another question, the ship rocked violently, taking her off her feet. "What was that?" she blurted.
"We're crossing the current," Amy said calmly.
"Great sea of ages," Catey exclaimed, "the Grey Buck would have been caught and never got out if it tried crossing it."
"That brings up a good question," Amy said, "who built that little boat of yours?"
"My Father," Catey answered.
"If I get a chance to meet him," Amy said, looking back to the stern of the ship, "I want I want to see if he would like to build ships for the BRC. That boat of yours look likes it could sail fine after beening caught in a hurrancne."
"Amy?" Catey asked, "Why are you so nice to me?"
"What you want me to drive you like water cattle?" Amy countered asked.
"No thank you. I'm just wondering?"
"Well you remained me of some you I knew when I was young. You got this urge to protect the things you have left; family, friends, and other little things that make your life special to you. Yet you know you lack the strength." Amy looked over to see Doug and Jake training in hand combat. "Your friend Doug seems like all the young recruits. He's headstrong and willing, but as soon as soon as the blood sheds, he'll become more cautions and always thinks twice. Some more serious chases result to total nervous break down."
"Doug will never become like that," Catey rejected.
"Keep a close eye on him," Amy said walking away, "you may never know when you'll wake up one morning and find that your friend has changed." Catey turned around a continued looking at the horizon.
"Moring Amy," Alistair greeted the merger, "Hows the coffee?"
"Tastes like someone heated water and threw in powered waste," Amy replied, "What was up with that ship last night?"
"It was just a supplies ship on a food run," he replied, "There was a few from Stone Wood on board as well."
"From Stone Wood?" Amy asked, "Were any part of the rebellion?"
"Na," he replied, "One just going to pick some thing up in Tolay and asked for a ride. The other two wanted to meet with someone."
"Did you think that they could have been spys?" she asked.
"Even if they were," Alistair began, "We have scouts that can give us at least a one day warning and be on our way to the meeting point."
"I'm just worried that's all," She replied.
"All you need to worry is the spirits," he said, "You train for a whole year right?"
"I trained on a boat for 8 months and I still feel like I'm no strong enough."
"Is that why you asked for there help? Because they reminded you of yourself a year ago?"
"But out!" She exclaimed, "I sailed with my uncle before joining the BRC. I was more willing to kick some Maver hide berfore you spent your first year as a captain."
"Hahahaha," he replied, "I heard you tearing up after that skirmish with the Mavers two weeks ago."
"Oh shut up," Amy said heading over to the dueling pair. Doug swang wide at Jake. He backed step to easily doge the attack before thrusting low with his dagger. Doug felt the wooden point poke at his ab and bowed his head in defeat.
"If this was real," Jake said, "your guts would have been filled with blood in seconds. You need to keep your stance tight so nothing can get through. Want to go again?"
"Doug picked up his wooden head training axes replying, "I will hit you next time." Jake made a quick thrus which Doug blocked. Jake the made a low slash aim for his sides. Doug stepped toward Jake making the blade miss and the forarm hit Doug. The lumberjack brought his strength down on Jake's back. The ninja lost footing and nearly fell on his face. He tucked and rolled away before Doug stike. "You're getting better," Jake praised. He then rushed the teenager. Doug tried to react but was unable to prevent the wooden point from touching his throat. "But you need to refine you attacks," Jake commented pulling away.
"Catey your next!" Amy said. The teenager walked down from the bow and took the training sword. Jake twiddled with the wooden dagger waiting for catey to take a stance. She brought her arm up infront of her while holding the sword out behind her.
"So that's how you fight eh? Jake commented. Grabing the handle he dove at her. Catey brought the blade down and hit nothing but wood. Jake stopped before the blade could reach him. "Don't fire the gun before the amush is ready," he cotardicted. "You need to time your attack so it hits. Don't swing when your target can see it coming and react before hand." Catey nodded and waited for Jake's next attack.
"Hey Jake!" a shout up the mast came.
"What?" Jake asked looking up. A sack of water busrted upon his face as the twins broke out in laughter from the sails. "Sorry Catey," he said after letting the water drip for a second, "I got to deal with them." He vanished before her eyes as the cries of the twins reached her ears. Looking up she saw the ninja holding the two by the ear like a mother punishing a bad child.
